Hi creative people!  Nuneka here today with a new mixed media layout to show you how you can get your scrapbooking work to a different level, adding dimension and textures in several ways.

So I selected my most favorite paper from the Vintage Artistry Shore collection, which is the page called In the shallows because those cute little fishes were calling me!! And I thought it would be perfect to use the ones that come in one of the two exclusive sheets of coordinated laser-cut elements! So with that idea in mind, I decided to create a coral reef for my work.

To create a nice background I used two soft Lindy’s Magicals colors, veeeeery gently so the original design in the paper is still visible, I wanted to keep everything from it because that would make it look much more interesting. Then I added some gold texture paste through a stencil with a singular design. Later when the composition was glued, I also added some little stamping with one of my favorite 49 and Market stamps: 1787 by Pascale Bernard.

I took some corals from the laser cut elements, and added some more that I created with chipboards and embossing powder, and also with plastic plants that I dye to make them match. All these created gorgeous different textures, but I wanted to go one step further adding some beautiful flowers from 49 and Market: Mini Series 01 and Pixie Petals are perfect thanks to their small size. So I also dyed them to get them perfectly coordinates, and as they are made from paper you don’t need to prime them or anything.

For the focal point, I used an illustration of a mermaid, which in black and white looks quite vintage (perfect to match with the papers), and I framed with chipboard that I painted in the same gold color as the texture paste. I glued all the elements building two clusters and placed the orange fishes swimming among the corals. I just had to add the last details: some art stones, a sentiment I fussy cut from one of the papers of the collection, and white splatters.
