It’s Nuneka today in the blog with a new mixed media piece, inspired by my teammate Pascale. Yes! I’ve been wanting to work on a different format for some time and I was wondering how it would look like to create some kind of canvas on a large horizontal piece… then I saw Pascale’s vertical canvas and I was thrilled how she could create such a beautiful piece, so I decided to try it in horizontal.
I selected a couple of papers from Vintage Artistry Coral Mini Collection and honestly I didn’t measure the strips of papers I used. I just took one slightly bigger than the carboard piece I was using as a base, and another one slightly smaller than that one. I protected all the pieces with clear gesso and added some interest to the background with texture paste and stencils. Then I inked the edges and stuck them together, with some cardboard in between to get more dimension.
I really wanted very simple decoration, so I took some pieces made with resin and silicone molds, and covered them with ivory acrylic paint to get them ready for the vintage look I was looking for. I glued them in the project and started coloring with my sprays in brown and pink. Then I used white gesso to get some contrast and brown ink to add some shadows.
49 and Market beautiful flowers helped me to get that romantic and vintage look. I chose Enchanted Petals, Garden Petals, and Flowers Mini in different shades of pink to create a pretty arrangement around the focal point. Then I nuanced them dry brushing with gesso and glued some art stones. I made some white splatters and glued a sentiment.
