For today’s layout, I am using Vintage Artistry in Color – Mango to scrapbook this photo of me out celebrating my birthday with my girlfriends. They organised this bowl of icecream (my favourite!) with sparklers – what a birthday treat!
I started with the Saffron Notes from the collection pack – I wanted to start with a fairly plain base so that I could build layers with the rubons. I decided to retain the spotted salvage strip and cut the paper to 12 inches from the top. I knew that I wanted to use the window with shutters and laser cut from the laser cut elements that come in the collection pack. So I started by backing the window with a piece of the Orange Blossom paper and mounting the photo with foam tape over the window.
I then placed the photo and window element onto the page (without glueing) and used elements from the laser cut elements and the Ephemera Stacks below and around the photo – including a large cluster of orange flowers from the laser cut elements. I also added some of the Whitewash Chipboard Frames as a final layer below the window/photo piece. A tip when layering these frames is that once you have them placed where you want them, snip away any pieces that overlap so that you have a flat layer. Because they are a lovely thick chipboard, you can end up with a lump in you overlap frames. When everything is where you want it, glue everything down. I have used a final layer of foam tape behind the window/photo piece so that it stands out on the layout.
I then added some of the distressed splat rubons from the Vintage Artistry Teal and Mango Rub-On Transfers around the outside of the layers along with some of the sequins from the laser cut elements.
I then created a cluster of flowers in the bottom right of the photo using a combination of the White Heron and Marigold Rustic Bouquet flowers. The Marigold colours work perfectly with the Vintage Artistry Mango collection.
A label from the Mango Ephemera Stacks to the bottom right corner of the layout and a word from the Teal and Mango Rub-On Transfers created the title. To balance this I folded down and stapled the top left corner of the layout and added another piece of the Orange Blossom paper behind the fold down.
The final touches were a smaller cluster of flowers and the butterfly from the laser cut elements on the left side of the photo, a heart, large and small enamel element from the Mango Wishing Bubbles and Baubles and spatters of white and gold paint to pull the layout together.
