The new Vintage Artistry Serenity collection is just so beautiful with its combination of blues and browns. So versatile for many different types of layouts. I have chosen to use this collection to scrapbook a photo of my son on his 17th birthday. I have focused on using different leaf elements to give the layout a masculine feel
I started with the Vintage Artistry Serenity Brief Glimpse paper, tearing a strip about three inches from the left hand side. I then layered that over the Brown side of Serenity Solids Paper 4. The brown of the solids paper tied in perfectly with the brown printed around the edges of the Brief Glimpse paper.
I used one 3×4 inch photo of my son for this layout. To highlight the photo I used one of the frames from the Curators Essential Key Lined Chipboard Frames, which are not too thick so don’t add too much dimension to your layout. Behind the photo I layered two pieces from the Serenity Remnants Pack, a specimen frame from the Serenity Ephemera Bits and a sprig of leaves from the Serenity Laser Cut Outs. I like to make these clusters up without sticking them to the page so that I can move it around and see where it works best.
Once I knew where the photo cluster was going to sit on the page, I added the large “Today” from the Serenity 12×12 Sentiments Rub-On Transfer Sheet as the title, placing a word strip from the Ephemera Bits as a subtitle.
I then added numerous beige and blue leaves from the Serenity 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set down the brown paper on the left side. The rub-ons are such good quality that they stand out perfectly even on this dark paper. I then added some tickets and leaves from the Serenity Laser Cut Outs over the rub-ons to create layers of interest.
I then made a cluster in the top right corner to balance the photo cluster – I felt it was too bottom-heavy and needed something at the top to balance the composition. I created this cluster with tickets and labels from the Serenity Remnants Pack.
The final touch was adding some labels to the right of the photo in order to include some journaling.
