Tattered Beauty by Nuneka

Hi there, 49 and Market lovers!

Nuneka here with my first layout for the brand! I hope I can show you a little piece of my soul with every work I do, because it really makes me happy to create projects specially for 49 & Market.

As you may see in this layout, I love natural elements and that’s why I chose Tattered Garden paper collection, because it has a mystery aura perfect for the idea I had in my head. I started tearing the paper, creating two triangles. I stuck a couple of paper pieces underneath and shaped the edges creating some kind of defined space.

In order to add some interest to the background, I mixed transparent texture paste with copper pigments and applied it through a stencil around the triangles. The I added some shadows and colors also with pigments, creating a watercolor-like effect. Then I added some stamping here and there.

The triangles I created are perfect to keep the composition in place and the curved edges of the papers help to raise some of the elements giving the piece volume. I wanted to create a luscious garden around the focal point, so I selected some flowers, I fussy cut some elements of the same paper collection and I also used skeleton leaves and metallic embellishments. I placed them all filling the triangles.

The final step for this layout was the sparkle touch. I glued beads and tiny crystals in the same colors I was using all the time, and I sprinkled some glitter before it dried. To finish the piece, I used the title of the paper page… that one in the extra strip. I always keep all those strips, you never know where you going to need them!
