Hello and welcome back today 49 and Market friends. Today I am here to share with you a project created earlier this year for a retreat I recently taught at. I find when I am teaching that it is wonderful to share all that I love to do and techniques of course. In this layout I was showing all the lovely ladies how I save paper and make it go further in a layout. I also showed how a layout can still be full of layers but not so dimensional. I love a layout full of dimension and layers but…….. I also love a good flat layout still full of detail but not so much dimension. So without further ado……

This is my project layout titled “Remember The Moments In Between”.

For this project I have used a mix of collections using 49 and Market’s beautiful “Sand and Sea” and “Sweet Reflections” collections. I decided to keep it very simple as I previously explained, but I still wanted it to be pretty and to tell a story with my photos. I have used 3 half size 4 x 6 inch photos to tell the story in this project of my girls in our back yard. I adore these pics of them just relaxing and talking with each other. Teenage years are never the easiest for the teenager or the parent, so when moments like these happen I embrace them with all of me.

I made a framework using the “Lighthouse” paper from the “Sand and Sea” collection. I then used the gutted centre piece to for the my matting of the photos and the rectangular strip. I then cut down the Sweet Reflections “Observation” by 1/2 cm all around and adhered this to my Lighthouse frame. I also used a second piece of Sweet Reflections to cut out the flower image at the left and for another rectangular matting piece to sit atop of the Lighthouse rectangular matting. Once these were all adhered I added then matted the photos with the leftover Lighthouse paper. All of these pieces were sanded lightly including my photos.

In the above photo you will see the fabulous Laser Cut Elements from the “Sweet Reflections” collection pack. I used mostly all of the elements from this page. Some are layered up with 3D foam tape and some just have been adhered with a clear drying glue. To the centres of some of the elements I have added in dobs of Star Dust Stickles. The addition of this to the elements add that extra bit of detail. I have also added in an acetate embellishment created with 49 and Market’s Vintage Artistry Stamp Set. I love the title piece “Remember the moments in between”. A perfect title for my page I thought. This was created using a little white embossing powder and then heat setting it and cutting it out very carefully. This was added to the bottom left of my layout. I have also added in a little Dusty Attic frame for my bird to sit in. This was gessoed and then a little Star Dust Stickles was added to help it shine.

Lastly I added in some distressed pieces of lace. Adding lace will always help elements on a page pop out a little more without a huge amount of dimension. I hope you have enjoyed my blogpost today with a few tips and tricks to keep your layouts simple but stylish.
