Oh my happy heart – Layout by Kim Arnold

Oh my happy heart - Layout by Kim Arnold

My sister shared with me this wonderful photo of her husband with their two girls and I just had to scrapbook it. The warm colours in the Curators Meadow allow for a layout which has some feminine touches with the flowers and butterflies but still retains a masculine feel.

I started with the Curators Meadow Papillon paper as I loved the butterflies in the warm brown tones. I then tore a 5” strip from the right side of the Curators Meadow Flora paper and used that to cover the patterns on the right side of the Papillon paper – I really wanted to highlight the butterflies. I retained the salvage strip on the bottom of the Flora paper and trimmed the paper to size from the top. I then softly inked all the edges of both papers in brown before I attached the strip of Flora paper to the Papillon paper. I then used the salvage strip from the Papillon paper as a strip just in from the left edge of the Flora paper – inking it before attaching it. The base of my layout is now complete. Both of these beautiful papers are available separately or as part of the 12×12 Curators Meadow Collection Pack.

I wanted to use a selection of the beautiful rub-ons from this collection to create further interest on my layout. I have used both the 12×12 Rub-on Transfer Sheet and the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer set from the Curators Meadow collection. I first added the black outline leaves from the 12×12 Rub-on Transfer Sheet in the bottom left corner. This works well with the text that is printed on the Papillon paper.

I then added the black outline floral element from the 12×12 Rub-on Transfer Sheet along the salvage strip at the top of the page. All along the right edge of the layout, I added brown words from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer set.

I was now ready to place my photo. I first backed it with pieces from the Curators Meadow Ephemera Bits, which I inked before attaching. The photo was attached on the Flora paper about 2/3rds of the way down the page. I then added a line of black line rub-ons from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer set below the photo. Once the photo was attached, I added a row of super cute mushrooms along the bottom of the photo and some reeds on the bottom right corner. These are from the Curators Meadow Laser Cut Elements. I inked the word strip from the Laser Cut Elements and attached it on the mushrooms for the title.
The final touch was adding some coffee stain rub-ons from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer set. I absolutely love how this layout turned out and I am so inspired by the beautiful Curators Meadow Collection.
