Hello, dear 49 and Market fans! Antonia Moreno with you today, sharing a summer project. This time I wanted to save all summer memories from these two little ladies, and what’s best than the new two mini summer collections and Foundations Mini Album?
The Foundations Mini Album has 6 inner pages with a 8×12” dimension -folded at 6”- and 1/2” gusset that lets you create with layers and dimensional embellishments. I thought that the new summer mini collections were perfect for this album instead of a single layout, and I worked it to give it as a gift for the mum of the little ones.
The way I create albums is different from what I do with layouts. I first take off all elements (papers, flowers, embellishtments) and photos and decide where they will go, i.e. I set where a paper and a photo together will be on the album. Afterwards, I start working on the outside. I created a chipboard layer over the cover, where my decoration was going to be. Then, I started layering, but just the photo, paper, laser cuts and clear dimensional embellishments. I don’t set anything with glue: I just create the layout, take a photo and save everything inside an envelope, writing “cover” or the page number on the outside.
This same structure is what I do with every page: decide how the page will show, glue down the background paper and save all elements on an envelope. Doing it this way, I get a clear idea on what embellishments I’m going to use and let me make the album more homogenous, as I learn from what I do at the end of it to improve the first pages.
Afterwards, I start layering and glueing each page, adding also new details that are on my desk (even burlap, cheese cloth, sisal or flowers!) and working on the background – stamping and using texture and/or sand paste. The only page that I set apart until the end is the cover and the outside parts of the mini album.
When everything is glued down, I go again over each page, adding small details, as Wishing bubbles, art stones, real shells, beads… and when all of this is done (a huge work that lasts some days, as you can imagine!), I start creating the cover of the album. This time, I decided to focus on the wonderful Underwater layered embellishments and laser cuts. They were perfect! I also worked on the spine, in order to create something that catches your eye, and adding some charms.
Although there are less hidden photos than I use to add to my albums, I think that these summer collections are great for saving these memories. I hope that you like it and inspires you to create one!
