Hello Lovelies, and Happy New Year!!!
I can promise you that 2021 is going to be an incredible year for 49 and Market. I have had the privilege to see some of the new collections in store, designed just for your creative pleasure!! But today, I have come to inspire you with Noel. What a gorgeous holiday collection. Traditional Christmas colors, but with a fantastic Vintage style! I truly enjoyed creating this layout. I wish you could see the glimmering gold shimmer I gave to the entire layout. So festive and magical.

One of my favorite products are the Rub-Ons. OMGosh, they rub on like butter, and they look like part of the paper!! You can’t see the edges of the rub, as they melt right into the paper. The little trees on the top left corner, the doily at the edge of the floral cluster, and the stitches, all rub-ons. I collected the leaves from a couple of different collections. I distressed them with a bit of Vintage Photo distress ink, then highlighted them with Fired Brick distress ink. They blend in perfectly with the paper.

I wanted some Christmas flowers like poinsettias on my layout. I searched through my 49 and Market flower stash and found the Stargazers in Cashmere, painted red, they look just like poinsettias! I die cut the photo frames using paper from the Noel 6×6 collection. The gold-colored paper is gorgeous. I enhanced the gold color by painting it with Lindy’s Stamp GJang Glitzy Gold Magicals. It didn’t change the color of the paper, it just added gold shimmer.

I also colored the Cashmere Stargazers in the Glitzy Gold Magicals. When the entire layout was complete, I splattered some of the Glitzy Gold Magicals in the corners of the layout. I also dry rubbed it on the red flowers, the leaves, and the edges of the layout. Kind of like Gilding the Lily!! It worked to pull the whole holiday theme together. Glistening gold to complete the magical feeling.

The steps I used to transform the Stargazers into Poinsettia Flowers.

  1. These are the Stargazers in their original color.
  2. I used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Fabios spray in Queen of hearts Red for the flowers. I mixed it with a little bit of water and the flowers soaked up the color beautifully. The Stamen and the leaves were colored with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Ponderosa Pines Olive. It has a bit of gold shimmer and left a gold shimmer on the leaves, so it worked perfectly color-wise.
  3. I brushed some Mod Podge onto the flower petals and sprinkled some fine red glitter on them. I used the Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bright Gold to the tips of each stamen and the tops of the berries.
  4. Is a closeup of the flowers, leaves, and berries. It is the fine little details that give the flowers character. I love the way they came out. Very festive.
