For this project I decided to decorate my Plum Memory Journal and Plum Memory Journal Essentials with the Plum Grove collection to set it up as an art journalling folio.
The first thing I did was attach a ribbon to the Memory Journal so that I could tie it shut. The ribbon was a pretty touch and tied in perfectly with the colours in the Plum Grove collection. The ribbon was made with seam binding which I died with sprays. I attached the ribbon by adding two eyelets to the spine which I tied the ribbon through. I then wrap the ribbon around the journal several times before tying it shut with a bow.
I then covered each of the Memory Journal Essentials books and file folder with papers from the 6×8 Plum Grove Collection Paper Pack. The spines were covered using a tape from the Avesta Fabric Tape Assortment which I added glue to so that it did not shift. I then added label stickers from the Memory Journal Essentials and embellished the stickers with rub-ons from the Plum Grove 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set.
I added an extra small art journal book that I had in my stash, which I decorated in the same way as the Memory Journal Essentials books. I then made a small book with watercolour paper to give me yet another option for the type of paper that I wanted to do my art journaling on. For the cover of this book, I cut a six-inch strip of the Plum Grove Blossom Paper. I folded that piece at 5.5 inches and 11.25 inches on the long side, using the last 0.75 of an inch to form the closing flap. I attached a ribbon through an eyelet and used a brad on the closing flap to wrap the ribbon around and hold the book closed. The sheets of watercolour paper were held in with a brad through the top left corner of the papers and the cover.
I also added a set of two file folders into the first elastic of the Memory Journal. I embellished these file folders with Wildflowers Paper Flowers in Plum, Plum Grove Laser Cut Elements, Plum Grove Ephemera Bits, and rub-ons from the Plum Grove 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set. I used some sequins from my stash in a shaker pocket I made using a slide holder from the Ephemera Bits and to embellish around the flowers on the front file folder. I also splattered white and gold paint around the various embellishment clusters.
I tucked various file folders, large ephemera bits, a tag that I made using a piece of 6×8 paper, and pieces of recycled packaging card (it is too pretty to waste!) into the various pockets and slots in the cover of the journal. I will eventually embellish or art journal on all of these pieces.
There is a walk-through video available to show you the whole Memory Journal and I also talk you through what I used to embellish everything.
