For my current project, I decided to make an album using the Foundations 2” portrait album in black with the Curators Botanical collection to document photos of my garden. I was able to fit over 60 different photos into the album when it was complete and you could easily fit more if you wanted to.
There is a video walkthrough of this album to show all of the details, and another how-to video to demonstrate how to make the decorative paper clips that I included in the album.
I started with the Foundations 2” Portrait Album in Black and flipped the centre folded page so that it created a gatefold with the third page of the album. I used the Curators Essential 4” Fabric Tape Happiness as the spine binding on the outside and then carried that tape through to finish the front and back inside covers. The back cover is fully covered, and the front cover just has a strip of the same width as the spine binding.
I then added the large waterfall from the Foundation open waterfall set to the inside cover and the smaller waterfalls to the back of the second page. For the inside back cover, I took the triangle pockets from the Foundations Envelope Pocket Folio, punched with a decorative border punch along the diagonal edge, and then attached them layered over each other to create a large pocket.
Once the base of the album was all together, I used papers from the Curators Botanical 6×8 Collection Paper Pack to cover each page. The 6×8 size fits perfectly leaving a small black border.
I then embellished each page with photos and a mix of Curators Botanical 6×8 Botanical Rub-ons, 12 x 12 Botanical Rub-ons, Laser cut elements, ephemera bits, tag set, and postage stamp washi tape; Curators Essentials Bookplates, Ephemera Pages and Washi Tape Stitched set; Vintage Artistry Essentials Hardware Epoxies, Rectangular stitched frames, Word clips Dark Greige, shaped clips Dark Greige and Binder Clips in Antique Bronze; and White Lacy Trim.
I created some extra flaps for the album by sticking together Curators Essential Ephemera Pages of the same size and creating a hinge using patterned paper.
The front cover was made with a 6×8 patterned paper with a strip of White Lacey Trim along the left edge. I then added a Curators Essential Ephemera Page framed with a Vintage Artistry Essentials Rectangle Stitched Frame. The Royal Spray Ivory, Rustic Bouquet Bluejay, and Royal Posies Ocean Jade flowers frame the bottom and right sides of this image. I have used a Vintage Artistry Essentials “Memories” Word Clip in Dark Greige as my title.
Did you know that if you don’t want to use the Word clips as paper clips, you can use metal snips to cut the clip part off and just attach the metal word with glue?
To close the album, I used a length of 5 ply Jute Cording which I tied around the spine, running it between pages in the book. When I tied the knot for this, I tied in some of the Curators Botanical Tags which I had embellished with flowers and rub-ons, and added to just one string. The jute then has long enough tails to be able to tie around the album to keep it closed. I think that the jute string fits well with the garden theme of the album. Tie knots in the ends of your twine to stop them from unraveling.

I hope this has inspired you to have a go at making your own album. It is a lot of fun and so satisfying when it is done.
Don’t forget to check out the videos which will make it easier for you to see what I have done.
Happy scrapping
