My son and I always take selfies together whenever we go anywhere. I loved these funny face ones that we took at Mother’s Day lunch this year. The Vintage Artistry Serenity collection was perfect to use to record this moment with it’s brown and blues and subtle florals.
I started with the Peaceful Notions patterned paper which is available individually or as part of the Collection Pack. I like the doily design printed on it and decided to use that as the basis of my layout.
I wanted to do something a bit different and create a grid design. I used the black straight and zig-zag stitch washi tape from the Curators Essential Washi Tape Stitch Set to place lines for the grid. I placed the grid a little off centre to the top left of the page. This was to leave room for the large title that I was going to place in one of the grids on the right side.
I then started adding items to each of the grids. First, the photos, which are two 4×3 inch portrait style photos. I framed these with the Curators Essential Key Lined Chipboard Frames. I placed one photo in the top left grid but bringing it down to overlap the centre line by about 1 inch. The second photo was placed into the bottom right grid. Before gluing these down, I added a chipboard tag from the Serenity Chipboard Bits with “Memory” on it to the top photo and tucked a rose from the Serenity Laser Cut Outs to the right of the bottom photo. I then added phrases from the Chipboard Bits and Laser Cut Outs to each photo.
I added the large YOU from the Serenity 12×12 Sentiments Rub-On Transfer Sheet as the main part of the title in the top right corner of the grid. The word “love” I cut from a phrase in the same Rub-Ons to finish the title.
The bottom left corner of the grid has a torn piece of the B side of the Brief Glimpse patterned paper that I had left from another project. Before I attached that with foam tape to give it dimension, I added some rub-on distressing from the Serenity 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set. I then added a chipboard round frame, butterfly, word strips, banner, and heart from the Serenity Chipboard Bits.
The final touch was chipboard butterflies in the top two squares of the grid, a chipboard heart in the bottom right grid and two buttons from the Serenity Laser Cut Outs at the top and bottom of the vertical stitched line. I attached these with foam tape to give them dimension.
There is a process video available to show you exactly how this layout came together.
