We are coming into some warmer weather here in New Zealand and the pretty bright colours in the ARToptions Alena collection make me think of sunshine and warm weather. I used this happy collection to scrapbook photos of my nieces enjoying some water play during the English summer.

I started with the B side ARToptions Alena Flirty paper for the background. This type of layout with lots of layers of paper is easier to do if you start with a full sheet of 12×12 paper – you could use the photo you want showing at the bottom of the layout, or use a sheet of cardstock and layer up on that. My background piece is Flirty – if you chose to use cardstock, then cut a one inch strip of the B side of Flirty and attach it to the bottom of the cardstock.
You will then tear the floral strip from the Full Bloom paper (approximately 4.5” wide), another strip of blue from the A side of this paper (approximately 2”) and then two strips from the dark apricot B side (approximately 2” each). You will also need a 5” strip of the teal from the B side of Happy Dancers with the diagonal orange salvage strip attached.
You are now going to attach these to the background from the bottom of the page in the following order: blue 2” strip, dark apricot 2” strip. B side of Happy Dancer with Orange diagonal stripe at the bottom, dark apricot 2” strip and then finally the 4.5” strip of Full Bloom. You want torn white edges to show for each piece. You might need to tweak how it sits, so play with it before permanently attaching the papers.

The photos are two 4×3 inch photos with white edges. I simply attached these over the Happy Dancer strip towards the right edge of the layout. You could easily use a 4×6” photo instead.

I embellished by adding a floral rub-on from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set to the left of the photos. I then layer a phrase rub-on from this pack over the floral rub-on. To make it stand out, I used a white pen on the edges to create a drop shadow. I then layered a word circle, word banner, and heart from the Alena Chipboard Pieces over a ribbon from the Laser Cut Outs.

At the top right of the photo, I added a chipboard tag from the Chipboard Pieces and a butterfly from the Laser Cut Outs. Slightly up and to the right of this, I included a blue circle and an apricot heart from the Chipboard Pieces.

Down the right of the photo there is a rub-on from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Set with two flowers and another butterfly from the Laser Cut Outs. I have added some pen lines to the flower and chipboard pieces to tie them in with the title. I love how bright and happy this layout is.
There is a process video available to show you exactly how this layout came together.
