For my take on this month’s beautiful sketch, I am using the new Vintage Artistry In the Leaves collection to scrapbook this photo of my son on his 14th birthday.
First a reveal of the OCTOBER SKETCH
Although I often scrapbook layouts with more than one photo, I decided that I would replace one of the photos in the sketch with a place to do my journaling
I started the layout on the Autumnal paper from the collection pack. I then used frames from the Vintage Artistry Essentials Rectangle stitched frames and pieces from the In the Leaves Ephemera Bits to create layers behind my photo and journaling piece. The journaling piece was cut from the In the Leaves Journal Card paper. I distressed and inked these pieces.
I stuck all the elements for my photo cluster together without attaching it to the page. This allows me to move it around to see exactly where I want it. Once I knew approximately where it would sit, I used the In the Leaves Washi Tape, stamps from the Always Together stamp set, gold paste through a stencil, gold spatters and rubon splashs from In the Leave Rub-on Transfers to create clusters of mixed media elements in the same spots as the sketch. I then attached the photo cluster.
Instead of flowers that the sketch has, I used leaves from the In the Leaves Foliage to create the clusters in the top left and bottom right of the photo cluster. I also added some clusters of gold sewing thread with the leaves to add some more gold shine.
I then added the title at the bottom of the page with items from the In the Leaves Ephemera Bits, a butterfly from the In the Leaves Foliage and a tie from the Vintage Artistry Essentials Whitewas Chipboard Frames.
The final touch is adding the In the Leaves Wishing Bubbles and Trinkets word, heart and dots around the page. There is a video of my process making this layout which will give you much more insight into my design process.
