Joy – Layout by Kim Arnold

Joy - Layout by Kim Arnold

For today’s layout, I am using a combination of this year and last year’s Christmas collections – Vintage Artistry Peace and Joy and Vintage Artistry Noel. As with most of 49 and Market’s collections, these two Christmas collections work together beautifully, and I think it is great that they are so versatile. I was sorting through my older photos the other day and found some of my son’s Santa photos from years ago. Since it is December, I just knew I had to scrapbook them! So I will be doing one for this post and another in two weeks’ time on my next post.

I started with the Euphorbia Garden and Painted Season Papers from the Noel collection. These papers were available separately and are still available in the Collection Pack. I cut the Euphorbia Garden paper down to 11.5 inches square, lightly distressed the edges and attached it to the Painted Season Paper B side which I took the middle out of first. I then distressed the outside edges of the layout. The photo is a 6×8 inch photo, so it takes up a large part of the layout. I decided I would sit the photo between the two poinsettias on the page and then create a cluster of embellishments across the top and a large cluster across the bottom that curls around each side of the photo. Once I knew that, I added some of the music rub-ons from the Peace and Joy Rub-On Transfers to the printed music notes on the Euphorbia Garden paper in the top left and bottom right of where the photo was going to sit.

I mounted the photo on the leftover piece that I cut out of the middle of the Painted Seasons B side paper with only a thin edge of the red showing around the photo. Before attaching the photo down, I used a selection of tags, tabs and word strips to create layers across the top of the photo. It is easier to get everything in the right place gluing it from the layer immediately behind the photo – and then once you are happy with it, you can attach it to the page. However, before you do, think about the embellishments at the bottom and whether there is anything that needs to sit right under the photo. Select the wheel die cut from the Ephemera Bits and attach under photo in the bottom right corner. Attach the photo to the page with foam tape to give it some lift but leave some space around the edge of the photo so you can tuck items in when you create the clusters at the bottom.

One of the papers has a green patterned salvage strip, cut it in half and tuck it down the sides of the photo at angles. Add some Peace and Joy Wishing Bubbles and Trinkets to the cluster at the top of the photo.

Create the large cluster at the bottom of the photo. Starting on the right hand side and working to the left there are two pinked circles from the Noel laser cuts in the Collection Pack. Then there is a cardinal, poinsettia flower, branch of leaves, small berry branches and pine cones from the Noel laser cuts and a large berry branch from the laser cuts in the Peace and Joy collection Pack which have been layered together with the Majestic Bouquet and Royal Posies flowers in Tomato. Continuing across there is the title which is JOY from the Noel laser cuts in the Collection Pack and Merry Christmas from the Peace and Joy Ephemera Bits with a definitional phrase with the bottom torn off tucked under the bottom edge of the photo. The definitional phrase is from the Noel laser cuts. The cluster is finished with another Majestic Bouquet flower in Tomato and a pinked circle from the Noel laser cuts. The flowers were all finished with a liberal application of kindy glitz for lots of Christmas sparkle.
