Holly & Jolly 2 – Layout by Kim Arnold

Holly & Jolly - Layout by Kim Arnold

For today’s layout, I am using the new Vintage Artistry Holly and Jolly collection to scrapbook these candid photos of my son when he was totally surprised to get a new iPhone for Christmas.

I knew I wanted to create a large shaker pocket with the cute candy stripe frames from the laser cut elements that come with the collection pack, so that was my starting point. I chose the Peace and Joy Starry paper which is available in the Collection pack and separately. I really like the distressed star and musical print on this paper and knew I would be able to enhance my finished layout with some of the Rub-on Transfers with the same designs.

I then used the two candy striped frames from the laser cut elements in the Collection Pack to create the shaker pocket. I simply offset the two frames over each other and glued the overlapping bits. I then added clear acetate behind the overlapped frames with glue, then created the pocket by using foam tape around the outside, added sequins, stars and glitter to the square and then finish with another layer of acetate. I like to use two acetate layers so that you can see through to the background paper.

I decided to place the three 3×4 inch photos and the shaker pocket in a line across the middle of the layout. I used a mix of wet glue and foam tape to attach everything to the page, tucking a couple of tabs from the Peace and Joy Ephemera Bits into the top of the shaker pocket. I then added the cute double bow ribbon laser cut from the Collection Pack across the bottom right corner of the shaker pocket.

The cluster at the bottom left of the photo was created with the title, banner, flower and label from the Peace and Joy Ephemera Bits, the leaves from the laser cuts in the Collection Pack and Wishing Bubble and Trinkets pieces.

I then added a cluster of embellishments to the top right corner of the layout using elements from more of the Peace and Joy Ephemera Bits, the leaves from the laser cuts in the Collection Pack and Wishing Bubble and Trinkets pieces.
