Getting Tropical - Layout by Kim Arnold

For today’s layout, I am using the new Vintage Artistry Beached collection in combination with a paper from the Vintage Artistry Blush collection. The Beached collection was just perfect to scrapbook the beautiful tropical resort we stayed at in Papua New Guinea.

I chose the paper from the back of the cover sheet in the Blush 12×12 Collection Pack as the base of the layout, keeping the salvage strip attached and cutting the page down to 12 inches from the top. I then used a film strip ephemera piece from the Beached Ephemera Bits to create a shaker box strip. These are very easy to make. I just add clear acetate behind the die-cut with glue, then create the pockets by using foam tape around each square of the filmstrip, add sequins and beads to each square and then finish with another layer of acetate. I like to use two acetate layers so that you can see through to the background paper.

I then added some Beached Rub-On Transfers and Beached Ephemera bits under and around the film strip shaker box when I attached it to the layout. I also added a small word phrase rub-on to the acetate on the top square of the shaker box.

I have used 3×4 inch photos on this layout. Under the photos, I have used tissue paper and pieces of the backing from the Beached Ephemera pack, which is a beautiful distressed blue diagonal stripe.
To the right of the photos I added another cluster of Beached Rub-On Transfers and Beached Ephemera bits, including a title from the Ephemera bits.

At the top right side of the layout, I have created a third cluster of Beached Rub-On Transfers and Beached Ephemera bits. To each cluster, I added Beached Wishing Bubbles and Trinkets. They add a delightful shine and dimension to the layout. I added my journaling to some strips from the Beached Ephemera Bits. Some splashes of gold ink finish the layout perfectly and compliment the splashed and distressed look of the Beached Rub-On Transfers.
