Hello,
I created this card for my husband to celebrate a very special occasion: His 50th birthday.
He deserved more than a simple card, so I created something unique for him.
Inspired by the steampunk style I made a card using 3D techniques and masculine embellishments.
Actually, this card was made as a small book.
I used a patterned paper from Vintage Remnants to do “the cover”. With the high weight of the paper was possible to create a great structure for the book/card.
By the way, all the papers from 49and Market are so good and with a great weight and I do love them because of this. Bookbinding is not necessary using those papers.
For the cover, I used a chipboard clock to embellish and created a shaker BOX. Gears and clock hands complete the decoration.
When you open the card, you can see two wooden cases. I recycled them painting with black gouache and using sandpaper to create a rustic look.
Inside the boxes, I attached lots of different elements ( die cuts, chipboards laser cuts, metallic embellishments, resins… everything creating references for the time that goes by and renew every year.
I wrote my husband a letter and I folded it using a string and it is attached to the card.
This Way, only He can see my lovely words for him.
