I love art journaling – it is a great way for me to try out products, mixed media techniques, and compositions before using the ideas on my scrapbooking layouts. The Spectrum Sherbet collection is a wonderful collection to use for art journaling with its many products and beautiful colours.

I chose to use the Spectrum Sherbet washi tapes, laser cuts, and rub-on transfers, combining all the colours from the Spectrum Sherbet collection. This page was made in my 9”x12” art journal.

I started with the Spectrum Sherbert 4” Lace Washi Tape Roll, ripping an 8” length and then tearing the sides off it. I attached that to the centre of the page and then added texture paste through a dot stencil around it. Once this was dry, I added yellow and teal watercolour paints around the washi tape, over the texture paste.

Once the watercolour paint was dry, I added two strips of the laser-cut lace from the Strawberry Lemonade Laser Cut Elements. I then added a range of pink and orange leaves from the 6×8 Rub-on Transfer Leaves and the Strawberry Lemonade Acetate Leaves along the sides of the lace. I also included some single-leaf rub-ons that looked like they were falling from the main column of leaves.

I really like adding phrases to my art journaling pages, so I selected a phrase from the Strawberry Lemonade Laser Cut Elements, which I added towards the bottom of the column of leaves. I wanted to add a butterfly to the top but didn’t have the perfect laser-cut one, so I added a rub-on one from the 6×8 Strawberry Lemonade Rub-on Transfer Set to cardstock and fussy cut it out. I then attached it by using glue only along the body part, leaving the wings free. I then splattered on some pink watercolour paint.
I could have left the page at this point, but decided I wanted to add more blue/teal elements to tie in the watercolour paint that I had used. So I added some of the graphic background rub-ons from the 6×8 Tidal Wave Rub-on Transfer set to the top right corner, left side, and bottom right of the page.

I used two of the teal butterflies from the Tidal Wave Laser Cut Elements above and below the pink butterfly. I enhanced the phrase strip already on the page with two laser-cut florals from the Tidal Wave Laser Cut Elements, a word from the Chipboard Words, and some strips of washi tape from the diagonal stripe tape in the Washi Tape Assortment Set. So the chipboard word was not too thick in my art journal, I peeled the back layers off before gluing it down.
I think these added elements really bought the page together.
